HELP
OUR COMMUNITY
Fancy Pants is committed to helping needy families in our community.
For each sale we will choose a charity to donate most unsold items
to - with a primary focus on charities that specifically serve mothers
and children.
In the past we have made donations to ALPHA, "A Beginning,"
Inc., CASA, and the YWCA, as well as to the St. James Thrift Shop.
We hope that you will consider helping these organizations and others
like them by donating your unsold items.
If you know in advance that you would like to donate, please
mark your item tag with an "X" in the upper left corner.
This will save time sorting items for Pick-Up.
Of course, you may always choose to keep your unsold items, and decide
what to donate at Pick Up time as well.
According to their website, the YWCA is the "world's largest and oldest
women's organization. The YWCA continues to strive for a society free
of discrimination based on gender, race, age, religion, culture, or
any other artificial criteria. " They also provide programs related
to child abuse prevention, homelessness, and teen pregnancy, among
others. They are located locally at 655 2nd Avenue South in St. Petersburg.
Their phone number is 727.461.2997.
For 2006 & 2007, our primary was CASA, although we made smaller
donations to other charities on a case-by-case basis. Examples include
individual families in need brought to our attention by friends or
volunteers, as well as the church family at St. James United Methodist,
who have helped many in our community as well as victims of Hurricane
Katrina in Mississippi and Louisiana.
For those unfamiliar with CASA's services, we've included their mission
statement below:
CASA’s services include crisis intervention and safe environments for survivors of
domestic violence and their families. They can be contacted at 727.895.4912 or
you can visit their website at http://www.casa-stpete.org/.
CASA's 24-hour helpline is 800.799.SAFE (7233).
